New years always brings a sense of organization. I always wanted a organized home. I did have a organized home for about a month, when we moved into the house. I unpacked and put everything in it's place. And now today it is where ever I can put it out of sight. I got a call on my cell phone today and by the time I had found it,they had hung up. I did not recognize the # and they did not leave a message. But I thought the # looked like , I should know it. So I looked for my phone book. And I thought it was in my studio, under all the stuff. So to find the #, I cleaned, I moved items from one area to another. Put items away, hung completed items on the wall, found things I had looked for last month, found a Christmas present I forgot to give, found my gardening gloves, found my square punch , I had been looking for but I still did not find my phone book. So, I have now a ....well, lets say organized as it can be studio. And you know I won't be able to create a thing, until I can't see my table again. So hears to organization. Cheers!

We wish you a Merry Christmas,
We wish you a Merry Christmas,
We wish you a Merry Christmas
and a Happy New Years!

Sunday, December 21, 2008

Well, we are in the home stretch, down to the wire, Christmas is just around the corner.
Are you ready?
Are the stocking hung by the chimney with care?
Has the figgy pudding been baked or made?
Have you checked you list, check it twice?
It is beginning to feel alot like Christmas, 33 degrees this morning.
Is all the gift been wrapped and lovingly placed under the tree?
Well, I would say
Pass the egg nog and short on the egg!
It is time to relax, have a tottie and prop up your feet, enjoy the last few days till Christmas.
I will be baking, cleaning, soaking my poor aching feet because it is only a few days till Christmas and I am not ready!
Merry Christmas to all and oh, I am going to bed I am tried.

Merry Christmas Everyone
The day are getting shorter and filled with more things I think I need to get done. This is a very busy week, 2 basketball games, Christmas play, daycare play, baking, shopping and the hunting of the Wii.
Yes, we did not have any luck looking for a Wii, when we went shopping. But after calling all Walmarts in a 100 mile radius, we found one. A truck had just delivered a few and we made a mad dash to pick it up, All is well. And wrapped and under the tree. The grandsons will get a Wii for Christmas. As I write this there is clothes laying on my bed that need to be folded, more in the dryer, the washer and dish washer is humming, and cookies in the oven. Grandson #2 has rearranged the tree and played with all the ornaments, grandson #1 said last night @ 6, that he needed cookies for school today oh, and a boy gift too. So off to Walmart, we go. School is out today at noon, it is almost that time. So it is time for me to second guess myself, do I have enough for him or her, maybe I need to get a few more things, I don't want the kids to be disappointed. Do you do his? I go through this every year. I think I will go back to Walmart one more time, just to look around....

Warning: Long post

Merry Christmas Everyone
It is beginning to smell alot like Christmas.
It may not look like Christmas at out house but it is smelling like it.
Want to play "Do you remember"?
My grandfather would roll oranges between his strong hands and juice them up. Cut a hole in the top, slide a soft candycane into the orange. And we would suck out the juice.
And what a wonderful taste.
And a wonderful memory.

The Store's Christmas open House was Saturday and we had a crowd.

Well, we had in about 40 people , that's alot for us.

The store looked great.

Thank you Barbara!

We worked all week, actually for about 3 weeks off and on and it showed.

I got alittle upset when someone would come in and buy the displays. Because I would have to come up with something else. But that is why we are there, to sell our goods.

Jerri's Jingling Jubilee was Sunday.

We had a really good time.

But this year I have a few kits left, so until they are gone you can purchase all 10 kits for one price $20.00 + shipping.

Or you can pick them up.

We completed 10 items on Sunday, drank not so egg nog ( taste like melted homemade ice cream), and no get together is complete without chocolate.

I was so happy to see your girls, some of you it had been awhile.

I did get my tree up on Tuesday and it has lights.

That night I walked through the kitchen and there was power ranger hanging from the branches.

Grandson #2 had decorated the tree his way.

I feel alittle lost this week, I have no decorating to complete at the shop, the Jubilee is finished. And so I started a book.

Is it time for me?

Get real, you still have to shop, I only have 2 gifts bought.

Bake all the Christmas goodies, decorate the tree at home, climb into the attic and get out all the decorations. Basketball game tonight, practice on Saturday. Next week is Christmas play, daycare program, more basketball, dentist appointment, 1/2 school on Friday and then the boys are out for the holidays.

So Happy Holiday Everyone!

Have you ever heard the expression "Death comes in 3's". I have witnessed it several time in my life and once again this phenomena has happened. I fellow antique dealer lost her battle with cancer, a vendor in the shop has lost her friend and companion to complication to Alzheimer's and today I read where Mark has also lost his battle with cancer. I didn't know Mark personally, I read about Mark and his battle on-line through his blog. I cried on his bad days and I smiled on his good days, isn't it funny that it takes a computer to bring people together for prayer and hope. I really hate the word cancer, and the pain and suffering it brings. Every Sunday we add more and more on the prayer list of people with cancer. So today when you pray, please add these 3 people to your list and remember the families that are left behind.

Merry Christmas!
The Christmas spirit has bit me and I am a creating fool.
And because I am so thankful for all my blessings, I decided to pass a few on to you.
To create this decorated nut cup.
You can be purchased the plain cup at any craft stores. Run a small line of wet glue along the bottom of the cup.
This will allow you to scrunch the crepe paper without having to sew.

You can add as many layer as you wish or use the paper fringe.

Now you can punch scalloped square and circle to add to your decorated cup.
Isn't that a simple project. I made 10 in no time at all.
Enjoy!

Okay, I was off today and made my 2008 Christmas Diary. I really enjoy looking back to see what I bought the year before, what I cooked for Christmas Dinner and it is pocket size. You can make the same type of album with a few envelopes, to hold your receipts.

Take a look for step by step directions.

This is what I started with...

A old bank book, I got in a box of treasures from a auction.

I took out the pages , to be used at a later date.

Then I cut pages to fit inside.

I used 5 sheets, it will give me 8 pages.

I punched 6 holes and stitched ribbon to hold album together.

Now glue down the first and last page to the album cover.

And cut card stock to cover front and inside cover.

Now embellish, your album.

My album is drying but below is last years Christmas Diary.

Oh, I don't have any favorites. I just love buttons. All colors, all kinds. A good day of Junkin is a day I find a jar of buttons. I wouldn't know if I had expensive buttons, don't care really. I just keep filling up my jars.

Any reason to look at my buttons...I am in!

Check back for my favorites....

Favorite
I got a new favorite today.
MY coffee cup had a crack and needed to go in the trash.
Of coarse, I have my favorites, doesn't everyone.
I have my favorite socks, I call them my sick socks. And when I am sick and cold I want them on my feet.
I have my favorite seat in the den, my favorite warm sweater, and my favorite blanket. I guess "favorite" has a lot to do with comfort.
And as the weather gets colder the more comfort I need.
My favorite cold winter day would have to be ...
a good cup of coffee, sitting in my favorite chair, with my sick socks on and curled up with my blanket watching a favorite movie.

CHEERS!
Raise up your glasses to my big ole fat writers block, please.
That's right, when have you not heard me have something to say..
Nothing has happened this week in my world.
I sleep, I do laundry, I get kids ready for school and daycare, I throw them a pop tart, I run to the post office, the Dollar General, the bank and pick up the necessary things at the Pig. To work I go, then I rearrange, wait on customers, clean up the back room, pack items for the church's yard sale , that's today. I try to finalize the class I am teaching at Scrap Mania, that's today. I spend Tuesday at the ER with Mom, inner ear. Hubby worked late all week, miss him. Basketball practice on Wednesday night. All the time creating for Jerri's Jingling Jubilee. That's in December.
So nothing is exciting, or earth rattling.
So I have writer block.
So raise your glass, or coffee cup to a un- write-able week.

And the 500th post winner is Jill.
Thank you all....
Jill, I will bring them on Saturday.
_______________________________________________________________________
And life at the WOOD house is still non stop.
This week was no exception.
I am decorating at the shop for our Christmas open house.
It just all seams to fall together...
but
we put up a big tree, and it is still standing there with nothing on it.
Nothing is coming to me.
Nothing, I am blank.....
We went to auction on Friday night.
Got a few pieces of odd furniture. That needed TLC.
We painted yesterday.
Terry is working all week.
This is Jessica week to work.
Grandson #1 is out of school for 2 days.
Yard sale at church on Saturday.
I am teaching a album class at Mania on Saturday.
Oh, and I bought my first Christmas present.
I even bought a bag and tissue.
Boy, at this rate I will be finished by April.
How's your week?

2nd Halloween week post

How did we do???
No, not really.
My boys don't like the innards of a pumpkin, and don't care anything about it.
But I would like to have the know how of carving a pumpkin like this one.
I am sure there is alot of planning and I am just a do it girl! Do it Now! No instructions! Try it and if it doesn't work the first time, try again, later.
I tried to bring the Halloween spirit to our house yesterday by making Grandson #2 a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a cut pumpkin face in the bread. He got so upset that his jelly was going to fall out, I had to put on another slice.
What is wrong with this family?
Come on, get in the spirit.
Or
Let the spirit get in you, hee hee haaaaaa
So I will try once again tonight, I think I will pick grandson #1 up from practice in a mask....
Stay Tuned

1st Halloween Week Post

This week will be filled with Halloween stories, fun and maybe a few crafty items. So sit back and enjoy the week.

On Saturday we went to a Halloween party ( code for dress up and come on over and watch the Alabama game).

So here is our costumes.

I was struck by lighten, hubby was Thing 1

Moral of this story

Don't use MURRAY'S HAIR DRESSING POMADE to make your hair stand on end.

Hot water rolls off, almost makes it more stiff. Shampoo and conditioner will not penetrate.

Off to the computer with towel over my hair, reading the website @ 1 a.m

Removing the product
To remove the product. Murray's was originally formulated to stay in the hair, therefore, getting it out may be difficult for some hair types. Use a strong clarifying shampoo or liquid dish washing soap and work into dry hair, slowly add small amounts of water to build foam, as the foam dissipates add more water, do this a few times prior to rinsing. There are many other ways which customers have submitted to us including, wash with Coca-Cola, Use a hair dryer and a fine toothed comb to melt the wax and pull it out.

Wouldn't you know it!!!

Tried it all !!

Didn't work!!!

It was 2 a.m I went to bed.....

Total washing at this point.

*8*

Up at 6:45

I have too much to do today and I need this stuff out of my hair.....

Back to the computer, I know I can't be the only person to put this stuff in their hair...and I was right.

There are many of us and the tips helped.

Thanks all....

I used dish detergent and olive oil.

And lot's of it...

Total washings

Stay Tuned for a drawing the end of this week...

Barbara and I worked on rearranging this part of the shop on Wednesday. We liked the wall that Jennifer and I had created awhile back so we just added to it. We giggled and laughed till we was pooped. Our Motto for this section LESS IS NOT A OPTION!

We will be having a Christmas open house on December 6th.
Along with all the antique stores in the Blount County area.
If you are around that day , please stop by. 25% of the sales will be donated to the Children's Home. They help abused children in our area.
So check back for updates on the shop, we will be adding and rearranging all month.

FIRST THINGS FIRST....A friend called the house while I was preparing for the reception. Said there is a yard sale on your road you might want to check it out. So I did...His lose is my shops gain. She wasn't selling all his stuff but she did say when she married him that he only had a twin bed. Yard Sale will be every weekend until it is gone.

On to the wedding....wedding was at a wedding chapel at 2. Cake after and then on to the house to eat, sorta like a after party. Anyway, I was expecting them at 5. At 4 I was in the tub, they called and was 10 minutes away. I was going to start the rolls and corn at 5:30. Serve drinks from 5 to 6. Eat at 6. So it was a mad dash to finish, but it was all done, had to deal with a little wind, and my camera acted spastic. I will have more pic as soon as I get them from the a friend.

But look at the love in the bride and grooms face, it was worth it all.

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Picture has nothing to do with all the preparing for the reception this afternoon. Just think he is a damn good looking man and thought you might enjoy a look see. Enjoy your weekend George, oh and you too!

Thursday, October 16, 2008

All is well here. I know it has been almost a week since my last post but BUSY is not the word for what we have been doing.
We have been cleaning and working in the yard all week. I borrowed a pressure washer and oh my goodness, I have cleaned everything that was standing still. It all looks so clean and fresh now. I am going out and buying myself a pressure washer as soon as this reception is over. How could I ever live without one....grunt grunt ( like Tim Taylor)....I love the power and the ...oh, I know I need to calm down. Hubby asked me to stop cleaning everything. their isn't enough time to get everything else done if I keep working with it. So I put it in the basement last night, but I might no ...no I will not get it back out..... It is all looking so good and the big day is just around the corner, Judy is excited and a little nervous too. But I am sure all will be great. Check back for pictures of the Bride and Groom.
Have a great weekend !

Friday, October 10, 2008

Yesterday was eventful. For Cleveland anyway. We had our Homecoming parade. The parade always comes next to the shop, so all the moms and Nanny's come by and we sit and watch the children. With the parents in and out, I still managed to complete a page yesterday. I pulled a older picture out of my box to create this one. It is of my brother and sister in law's wedding. What do you think? Well, today is Friday and I am ready for a rest. But it won't happen this weekend. The gang in coming to the house to prepare for the wedding reception that will be here next weekend. A lot of grass cutting, trimming, gutter cleaning and raking will be going on. So have a good weekend and if you need something to do and would like a hot dog, come on over Sunday after church. I have a rake that will fit your hand.
