Can you believe I had a creative spurt yesterday. I love Lisa Kaus art. I admire her spirit and doddle alot after looking at her blog. Yesterday I went into the basement and grabbed a piece of wood and went to work. It was so much fun to create again. I had dried up and had no creative juices flowing inside me for quite awhile. Dear Daughter said " It's cute, but what cha going to do with it"? Well, it they will hang in my room until I get a new look. Don't burst my creative bubble. I pulled pictures for a crop I am attending in August too.

I am always on the look out for a unique and interesting item to alter and add photo's. These are laying on my table waiting to be transformed into a beautiful and unique display. I bought the drawer when I saw what Ali Edwards had done to one. The old album, maintenance Hints and little brown book will be altered into a most wonderful album. The smaller ones will be made into Christmas list books. I bought the hanger to display scrapbook pages. And the canvas has already been embellished with paper, just waiting for the perfect pictures. So what is the most unique item you have used lately?

Stay tuned for Completed items...

No new Junque to show you this weekend, trying to save up to attend the world longest yard sale in 2 weeks.

But Hubby and I had a "DATE NIGHT" . We had dinner, a movie, ice cream after and came home to a quite house. It was really nice, I wanted to see Mama Mia, but the last movie we went to was P.S I Love You, a true chic flick. So I let him choose and we saw Hancock, WoW, I like it. I didn't think I would, but I did. Face it, I love Will Smith, always have. Little love story, little funny, alot of action. Good for both of us. We also went by the hospital to see a friend that had a accident on a motorcycle last Saturday .

And I need to know something.

When did they put a "EARTHQUAKE" button in elevators?

I live in Alabama.

The pool Story

Do you see the pool behind Hubby? To the right of the dish that keeps the aliens away. It's a southern thing....This pool has been a thorn in his side all summer, well, really the last 2 summers.
We bought this pool about 12 years ago. This is my pool, I love the water. We have put very little $ into it in the last 12 years, other than chemicals. We have enjoyed this pool so much, that we have talked about a in-ground pool in the near future.
Last year, we were so busy, it was late when we opened it up and never got it looking great, so we did not get into it. So Hubby started early this year, Chemicals, water samples, more chemicals, more samples. We have never had this problem...He wanted it ready for the 4th of July party, it didn't happen, so we filled it with chemical, so it wouldn't be infested. Had the party and hubby started working on it again. So last week, he made a decision to drain the pool and re-fill. It took several days to empty, and the last 2 afternoons we have scooped bucket-ful out of the pool. Scrubbing and using the shop vac, we finished last night at dark. And starting filling it back up. We noticed a place where there was sand, hubby said, I know I vacuumed that spot. So at closer inspection, there was a hole. Now if you have ever patched a hole in the pool, there is this glue, that gets all over you. So he patched it, and found more sand, patched it. started looking closer and our pool is now a colander or swiss cheese. The liner is 12 years old, but I really didn't want to put any more $ into this pool.
Boo hoo

One of the many blogs I read each week, has a show and tell on Sunday. I really enjoy looking at all the creative items. This week was show me your vintage paper. I was cleaning off my table and ran across these, I just had to show em. They are not all that vintage but face it 1966 is getting there. Both the Jack and Jill and the Highlights are 1966. Wasn't they fun. I still pick up the Highlight when I take the kids to the Doctor and try to pick out the hidden objects. I guess I am just a kid at heart. And do you remember saving the trading stamps. Oh, how I always wanted to save up for the big stuff. When we would go to the store to pick up what Mother wanted, I would dream of what I was going to use my stamps on when I grew up. They stopped Trading stamps in 1980, I was newly married and we had not saved nearly enough for anything big.

SO excited, I joined Artsy Mama's Sweet and Sinister blog today. She is hosting a swap and I didn't think I had the time to join with the Crop 2 Help coming up. But she posted this morning that the swap was closed and but joining the blog was still open. This way I get to see all the cool stuff and read what the designers have to say and I don't have to worry about the swap part.

So guess who's house will be decorated this year.....

I always decorate and last year I hosted an child/adult scavenger hunt.

But maybe this will give me ideas.....

BOO!

MY FINE FRIENDS!

HAAAAAAAA!!!!

Going to a doctor's appointment today. Just a check up. I am 2 years and 92 days away from turning 50. I have issues. I hate the way my body feels and has felt for a few years now. I know the alternative is death and I should be content that I am as healthy as I am. But I want more, I want to grow old gracefully, isn't that what is said. I want to not pee on myself when I cough, I want to not burst out crying at hallmark commericals. Hubby ask me last week when the period thing was going to be over with. Oh, if he only knew. Of course my mind is blank right now, but when I ask for the appointment 3 weeks ago, I was ready to scream. Now how do I tell this man doctor that I have fatigue, it takes all I can do to get out of bed some mornings. I have moles ( like my grandmother ) that has started to creep up my neck onto my face, or are they age spots. I still like nothing more than to sit outside in the hot sun and I am paying for it now. My knees ache, holding up this butt is too much on them. I constantly think about my weight, and with that thought not fresh out of my head grab a bag of chips. My name is Jerri and I am a emotional eater. There is never a dull moment in our house. I can't handle another menopausal headache. I have been going to a surgeon for almost a year now for a leaking breast. A milk gland that is stopped up, but I put my gown on and with in 10minutes, it is wet. We are just going to watch it. My hips hurt, I have old woman gas, I don't sleep good, I toss all night and I am tired.

Spent a few hours with the children from VBS at our Methodist Church Camp this morning. But I hit a yard sale and Estate sale on my way. Not alot left at the Estate sale, but I did pick up the Hanky's and pillowcases. My favorite is the yellow USA MOTHER Hanky. I don't know why I like all the old linens, but I have a stack of pillowcases that I will never wear out. Have you noticed that they are softer, than store bought ones. They are already worn in for you. I have ladies buying odd pillowcases to make dresses for little girls too. So I haven't decided what will go to the store. But maybe a few will end up there. Feeling a sigh of relieve that VBS is over and now I can put my whole heart into the Crop 2 Help Retreat. Planned for Sept 5-7th this year. I believe we have maybe 2 places left. If you are interested you need to check out the Crop 2 Help blog www.crop2help.blogspot.com . We have a great time each year and raise $ for the children at the Shriner Hospital.

I am at mid week with VBS, and it has been something else. I have never taught this age group. Pre-teens, I guess (9-10 and 11 years old). I have 22 student and 3 other helpers. I have tried to keep it simple and not alot of moving around because with this many children it is hard to move in the room we have. So after I saw we had 22 children, I had to reconstruct my game plan. No games where they had to get up and move around. No activities and crafts with food have been a hit. We made friendship mix last night, and pulled the bags together with a pipe cleaner to make a butterfly. How do I know if I am penetrating that already busy brain. I get blank stares, very little input. Until I get to the crafts or food. So each night I say a prayer, a prayer that maybe one will hear and understand. I like this age group, hubby is helping and has already picked out his favorites. Dear Daughter and my future Sister in law is helping. I don't know what I would do with out them. We have puppets at the opening each night. A dog and owl, they talk to the children. Grandson #2 ( the 3 year old) wanted to know who bought him the T-shirt. I told him the church had bought it for him. He said no Nanny, did the dog or the owl get it. So I said the dog. He was happy. He is having a blast and doesn't want to leave each night. And I guess that is what it is all about.

Jesus loves me, I know we all learned this song when we were children. Whether we attended church or not, we picked it up somewhere.
Yesterday at church, we were told a story of a man,(98 years old), a pastor of 50 + years being ask to speak. He told of the one song that help him through his trials and troubles.
It was Jesus loves me.
In his later years he had changed some of the word to fit his life.
We sang this on Sunday.

Jesus loves me, this I know
Though my hair is white as snow
Through my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.

CHORUS: Yes Jesus loves me,Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves me. For the Bible tells me so.

Though my steps are oh, so slow
With my hand in His I 'll go
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.

CHORUS: Yes Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves me. For the Bible tells me so.

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near".

CHORUS: Yes , Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus loves me. For the Bible tells me so.

When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love.

CHORUS: Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me. For the Bible tell me so.

I love Jesus, does He know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.

CHORUS: Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes Jesus Loves me. For the Bible tells me so.

I see "RED". Just a few thing on or around my table. I also had a customer that made me see red yesterday. I had a few customers in the store when she busted in the door and stated, You are never open and I screamed to my husband to stop she is open today.( I am closed on Sunday and Monday.) She carried a bottle of what I thought was light colored soda until I got a whiff of her breath. She was a needy person and ask for prices and had questions, which is no problem but she was saying what are your hours, you are never open. I have worked with the public almost all my life and I am a cool cookie. I know how to turn the other cheek. I went to the counter got a business card with the store hours and left it with her. And then the hubby came in and started spouting off about Mr Big Shot (name withheld) said to come by here and charge what ever we wanted. I hated to tell him Mr. Big Shot is not as honest and trustworthy than he thinks, and he is just blowing alot of you know what out his you know what. They were both loud and he kelp insisting they were in a hurry and needed to leave. They went on and on for about 45 minutes, and it was after 5, I needed to get to the Pharmacy before it closed. Doctor has put our little one on a arthritis meds until he can get a appointment with a specialist. Other customers left ASAP and I gave them the I am sorry look as they went out the door. This is part of being a store owner and working with the public, and I know this but sometimes it makes me see RED!

Red Thursday
Do you save your flowers. I started this a few years ago, I hang them in my studio from the ceiling and let them dry just as soon as they start to droop in the vase. So I enjoy them alittle longer.
Look around your house and what color do you see?

Wednesday, July 09, 2008

I love color! And my color favorite is red. I have alittle touch of red in almost every room in my house. I buy books because of the color of the jacket. I know another obsession of mine. Now you can't tell me this is not nice looking. I have been looking at blogs that post a color and show that particular color for a week. So this is my red. And stay tuned for more heart warming red. I guess red could be flaming and hot too. Either way, this weeks color is red.

Blooming Tuesday is being hosted at Jean's blog http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ As I was looking at the beautiful flowers I remembered i had not looked at mine in a day or two. Before you say, I believe it has been more than a day or two, I have to tell you I have a black thumb. And the top picture was Aloe, who kills aloe, well that would be me..... I have to confess, the Aloe was about 5 years old but I did kill it too. I had 3 beautiful peace lily, and it took only a few years to kill them. I was re- potting them and decided they needed fertilizer, enough said. So if you want to see beautiful flowers you better go on over and visit Jean.
Happy Tuesday!

Do you have a set of Encyclopedia's? Or did your Mom have a set and ask you if you wanted them because this is what you used when you where in school. What do you do with them. They can't sell them in a yard sale. They won't take them at the Thrift store. So here is a alternative idea. What do you think?

For alot of years now we have a 4th of July party. For the last few years, there has been a theme. This proved funny to see what my mother would wear to the event. Our theme this year- A Farm Style Celebration. And once again Mom proved to be our #1. She wins the prize. She told us she always goes out into the garden early in the morning wearing her gown. I think she is beautiful. We missed a few regulars, and welcomed a few new guest.
Everyone was on their best behavior and we had a great time.

Kick up your hills there is only one more work day, this week.
I am closing the shop on Friday and Saturday.
Going to clean house and get ready for our Annual 4th of July party.
Our party will be on Saturday, come one come all.
I have always had to worry about how many Hubby will invite,
but this year DD and my baby brother has taken it upon their self to ask their friends.
So there is no way of telling how many will show up.
No worries, I will not worry about this. I will not worry!
We are going to have a good time and I am going to enjoy myself.
Happy 4th everyone
Please be safe!
