Show and Tell Friday
This is a picture of me and my sister, Ramona at my grandparent's in the country. We loved coming to the country, playing outside and pretending. Oh, how we could pretend, and grandmother ( Ida) always had a box of old discarded clothing for us to play with. We built houses in the barn with the square bales of hay, and wouldn't come home until we were called. Hours was spent building and pretending to live in the country. Mom and Dad built in the country in 1970, next to my grandparents.
I have that cast iron cook pot, in my yard now, in the country. Hubby and I built our house in what they called the hay field 1993. This old farm in the country has changed so much, dad had to tear down the barn, about 16 years ago, for safety reasons. And my grandfather, Garnet ( jennifer, how do you like that name?) use to plow the field, where my house stands. Yes, alot has changed, but still I enjoy pretending in the counrty.

I am the one with my head cut off, I don't know who took the picture. I am the oldest, smartest and best looking. Shhhh don't tell sis. ha! And we were pretending to be our grandparents. I even had a cup of coffee ( water, out of the facet, danger! Will Rodgers!) My sister's head looks so big in this picture too.

So wonderful that you can live on the same grounds as your parents and grandparents. What a blessing that must be. Loved the old picture.

How cool to have that conmnection to your family's homestead. We live in such a transient society these days that I'm sure most young people couldn't relate! When we retire, we're hoping to build a cabin in the mountains. I love the idea of passing it down to our children and grandchildren!

Jerri, go to Kelli's House and look at the roll of people participating. Look at #4 - Kathyb and #6 - Cheryl. I think you'll like both of these! Jennifer

I didn't grow up on a farm,
but a lot of my friends did.
There was always something
to do or explore at their
farms. I am glad I got
the chance to see the
other slow life!
We didn't need
video games + stuff!!!

Your country memories are so sweet! I can just imagine the building and the pretending. What fun it was to be a kid. We might get older, but we don't forget.
