Okay, if you know me you would know I aint gonna use my button to make this. Ha Ha. Cause I can't spare any. But I do like this ornament. Anything made with buttons.

I love these yoyo flowers. Gotta try and make some. I really need to start now to complete all the things I want to make before Christmas. So it won't be so busy. Who am I kidding, July is just as busy.....

What a unique Christmas tree. And a great way to display those special Christmas ornaments that you want in front so everyone can admire. Well this seems simple enough and then you can spotlight the special ones.

Saturday, July 17, 2010

What a simple little "I am thinking of you " gift. We can do this. I love the pink color but you can use red or a color you consider Christmas. Who says we have to use this just for Christmas. You can do this anytime. It would be a nice treat for any party.

Need a Card in a hurry? Try using that deck of cards that is missing a card. Use your imagination. Come up with your own ideas.

Taking a break from "Christmas in July" for a trip to the beach. I had a friend that, while @ the beach, built a snowman out of sand. It was there Christmas card. Cute idea. But this is a picture of how close we got to the Jimmy Buffett concert. No tickets so we went back to the room and watched it like everyone else at home. On CMT. But it went on for hours after.

Can you tell I am wanting something sweet? These are Cherries dipped in white chocolate. Then you pipe the faces. Cute * Cute* I forgot to tell you about the snowmen donuts. I think the noses are molded out of Starburst candy. Just heat them up and roll in your hand until you get the perfect nose. So I have posted 2 different candy items, just perfect for Christmas. Are you feeling the cool breeze of the winter chill. NO, me either. It has been HOT in Alabama. Looking forward to a chill down.
Have a good weekend!

Not enough time in the day.

There are sooo many things I want to do and I don't have enough time.

I saw these, right before Christmas and never had the chance to make them.

So easy, great for my Sunday School class.

Christmas in July

The next month I will be posting things I need to try at Christmas.

Maybe if I get started early enough, I will try some of them...

Merry Christmas!

Last night we hosted our Annual BBQ celebrating the 4th of July.
We enjoy this every year. We work our butts off, trying to get ready and then everyone is here and it is all worth it. Fun * Food * and Fellowship*
Last night we had about 50 attendees, and I think we all had a good time.
If you came by, I hope you enjoyed yourself, if you didn't, you missed a good time. Just remember as you celebrate the 4th this weekend, say a prayer for our world.

I just read on this blog http://linda-coastalcharm.blogspot.com/ that a boat captain has taken his life because of the results of the oil spill. Lord please be with this family and watch over each and every person involved.

My Beach
When I think of "vacation" I think of the beach.
Although we do not get to go every year,
I have planned to go to the beach this summer.
And I will still go!
I am so proud that Alabama has a beach, only a few hours to those white sands.
Many childhood memories are from the beach, spending hours at the beach. We never stayed in a hotel that had a pool. We stayed in a house that was a few blocks from the beach. We walked to the beach each morning, spending all day in the sun. And loving every minute.
I am appalled at the situation at the beach.
What happened to taking responsibility for your actions.
I want BP to take care of this, to stand up and be a man and take care of this.
Make this go away!
I heard Jimmy Buffet was giving a concert to benefit the Gulf Coast, and then I heard some of the free tickets showed up on Ebay for a starting bid of $100.00.
Come on folks
Get real!
We have given, all we could to many disaster in and around the U.S.
in the last few years.
So I am asking my 5 followers to give.
Keep your plans and go to the beach, spend your $.
Show the merchants that we are not going to forget the beach.
After hurricanes, many rebuild so we can enjoy the gulf coast.
So don't forget them.
Support them!
I know I will!

And there are so many more Sisters to meet!
What fun we shall all have! Parties and giveaways, tours and workshops, sharing creations and ideas - all of this is in store for all of us. From home decor to crafting, our days will be full of fun in the months ahead. I've received some AWESOME ideas for our new Sisterhood from all of you and I am really looking forward to bringing it all to fruition.

Ahh....to sit in a swing on a cool afternoon and enjoy each others company. A tall glass of sweet Tea, with a big ole piece of lemon. A ceiling fan or a breeze. Maybe your pet cat curled up on the seat next to you, purring and feeling content... But in reality, It is HOT! Hot as a firecracker. There is no sitting on the porch in a swing. Your in the house under the air. Alabama in June is hot, maybe July will be cooler.....yea right.

Last Friday we celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. If blogger would let me up load pictures I could show you the flowers my hubby sent me. Or I could show you the picture of us at Top of the River, enjoying a great fish dinner. Or the Arts and craft show we went to in Cave Springs Georgia, on Sunday. The little community has a COOL cave and a stream that flows from the COOL cave with COOL water. It was in the 90's so COOL air was what we needed. We are still dealing with a cloudy pool and I am so ready to get in the pool but I want to see the bottom. So I am waiting......Monday I went to the doctor for my monthly check up and I lost 6 lbs. So off to walk I go again this morning, lets see if I can do it again this month... This weekend is fathers day and I have no idea what to get Terry or my dad. If they want it, they go get it. So once again I am at a loss. I shouldn't make such a big deal about it but I do.....Have a GOOD WEEK MY FRIENDS!

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

Sorry people, Blogger or more likely my computer will not let me upload pictures to my blog. I will try again tonight or tomorrow. Until then I was able upload pictures of our trip on Facebook. Have a great day.

Leaving in the A.M for the yard Sale in North Georgia.

But tonight while surfing through my many blogs I found this adorable junque necklace. So here is where I give the creator a shout out. http://2chippys.blogspot.com/

She even has it on Esty. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Think I will be looking for a change purse this weekend.

Clicking my heel and saying yard sale fairy take me away.........
Yes, it is that time....Time for the Dixie Highway Yard Sale.

We enjoy Yard Sales. And if they are out of town, we like em even more.
So as this week will creep by, I will be dreaming of the sale next weekend.
It will not be so hot and it is only 90 miles long. My kind of Yard Sale.

Wonder what I will find? Maybe a few crocks...And Linens.....maybe even a few thing for me...I wonder how much will go home with me instead of the shop.
So, as this week crawls by, I will have Yard Sales in my dreams. I love it!!!!
Have a good safe Holiday weekend and week.

Barbara and I was at it again today.......
We had been planning this re-do for a few weeks now and today was the day.
I had been hunting and holding back some goodies for this re-do.
Our garden / potting area is complete. I pulled this old wooden fence out of my yard that was on it's way to the garbage, and maybe that is where t should have went.
It took all we could do to get it to not fall apart. We wanted a dazzling display and I think we got it.

I love this picture, another yard sale find.....

Do you notice the rusty old bird cage I got at the Yard sale on Saturday, it fit right in.

I had the railroad spike butterflies in mind for awhile. It just took awhile to get them made.

I like this little bunny, it might have a home with me.

Okay, so come on by and see it in person, it is lovely.
I love working with Barbara, we know what each one is thinking. More is more and the rusty crusty stuff is great. Have a great day!

WARNING LONG POST!!
I am sorry it took so long to get back with pictures of my "junkin" finds. But I am going to start backward first.
This is the mirror I painted to put in my studio. Aint it cute. I debated about painting it black and changing the look of the room. But I am not ready to let the flamingos go. I am ready for the beach and the sea and I still love my turquoise and pink......

So,Saturday morning June ( my sister in law) called and told me of a yard sale. Six miles of yard sale. So I jumped in the shower and off I went.
I got the pile of frames for $3.00.

If it is rusty, it is mine. June was at the Yard sale too. On her own. We were calling back and forth telling each other of good items and "don't even stop at that one". June told me not to stop @ this one and I just had to, and I found these....She even said she picked up the planter and the handle was broke and she put it back. But what she didn't know was I got it for .50 cents. And I can fix it.

A box of buttons, YEAH!!!!!
So today has been a lovely day of playing with my buttons. I had a few other jars I had found in the last month or so and today was the day to sort and play.

I got a pile of vintage lace and this collar, can you imagine what the dress looked like.

Now on to the Junkin finds...The pictures are backward but you will get the idea. Do you know what these are?
I saw this on a blog and had to try it.

Yes, they are hot plates. And one was even broke. But this did not matter i covered up. I love this.
RECYCLE *REUSE

This is another pile of item we got on Monday. The Lance jar is gone already and so is the pool ball. I just put them in a crystal bowl and they sold n a few days.
The store has been slow and will be for a few weeks. School will be out this next week and parents will be too busy to travel or get out and shop. So Barbara and I will take this time to redo a few booths. Grandson #1 and # 2 will graduate next week. And this morning I realize in 6 yeas.#1 will graduate high school #2 will graduate 6th grade and #3 will graduate Kindergarten, all the same year. Phew, God be with us. Been a busy month nd I know June will be too, so slow down and try and enjoy the summer. I know I am. Have a good day.

Went Junkin Yesterday
Noticed that they are color coding now.
Clothes are no longer by size
But by color
Even the housewares
it was easy to find my favorite colors
Red had Christmas mixed in though, so I had to look extra hard
But it was different.
Still don't know if I like it.
Check back tomorrow for a pic of items I got.

Yesterday was my hubby's birthday! Yes on the 13th. He has always said it was a lucky day, I think so too. He is like many men, he doesn't want a fuss on his big day.

He will leave this morning to fish for two days, but we want to celebrate him too. So there will be cake and steaks on the grill, and gifts. But we are just not sure when.

Happy Birthday my sweet man.

Ho Hum Day!

I love walking when the temp is low. I walked my 2 miles this morning in between the showers. Didn't even break a sweat. Unlike last weeks 90 degrees. Alabama Weather is so unpredictable. And because it was going to be cool and raining today, I decided to stay home and put up strawberry jelly. I had 5 bags left from last year, so I pulled them out and made the best smelling jelly. And I am sitting here now counting the lids pop (sealing). Eleven jars. Not bad. And yes Ali, I will bring you a jar to the crop in October.

As for Mother's Day, It was so relaxing. After the last week, I was looking forward to a quite day.

My son in law ( future) made a wonderful breakfast and Dinner. We visited mother and the MIL and just sat around, worked in the yard and enjoyed the down time. Not a bad day.

HAPPY
MOTHERS
DAY!
GIFT #1
This is what was on my bathroom door when I got home yesterday.
My daughter knows I hate to clean the bathroom.
I would rather wash dishes, clothes, mop and sweep.
But there is something about that bathroom that I dislike.
So now I have a clean, blue in the toilet bathroom.
#1, does this mean there will be a #2?

Riding with the top down, is one my favorite thing to do. This is Donna and myself, last weekend. We had to make a Hobby Lobby run. Actually several.... But what I really like is letting Terry drive at night. I love to hold my head back and enjoy the beautiful stars. There is limited days you can ride with the top down in Alabama, but I try and enjoy each and everyone of them.

Vendor Spotlight- Larry
Larry has been with me for quite awhile and has junkin in his blood. He moved in after "The Lobby" closed. He is a retired teacher and now is more busy than he was before he retired. He keeps his grandchildren, tutors math, is in a band, he helps at a accounts office and this was just last week. I want to ask for you to lift Larry up and say a prayer for him. He will be going through some treatment the next few months. He has been a great vendor and now I am honored to say my friend.

Larry has furniture in his booth but the camera woman didn't take any pic of it. So today I will show you his let of bed pans, great for planting flowers as well as the obvious. Larry likes boxes and brings in all kinds. So if this is your taste stop by and see us.

Sunday, April 18, 2010

I use to hate Sunday's.
I would pout and be a miserable person on Sunday afternoon,
cause I had to go back to work the next day.
But life changes and my Sunday is now Monday.
But I enjoy my job so much
that I can't wait to get back to the shop on Tuesdays.
Sundays are my relaxing day.
Praising our Lord relaxes me
Spending time with my family relaxes me
Now I love Sundays.
And today is Sunday!
Slow down
and
Enjoy it!

Spring Break

Ky was the only one that took a trip during Spring Break.

He took a trip to the Aquarium with his friend Emily.

Can you see how much fun they were having by the look on their faces.

And every picture showed it.

I hope you had a great Spring Break!

I love this pitcher and bowl set, it has alittle yellow tint.

And look at this lamp, it is made of wood, how unique.
Our shop is full of unique items, so come on by anytime.
Items come in almost daily, but with 15 vendors you never know what will come in.

Gonna take alittle break from Vendor Spotlight this week.
Here is a photo of the claw foot tub we got in the shop a week r two ago. It is a 6 foot tub for $350.00. I love tub baths and this would be a dream come true for me, but we are not ready to update at our house. I saw the bead hanging in the window of a shop in town during Christmas and thought it looked like a necklace. So I had to copy it for my window. How did it turn out? Check back next week for another Vendor Spotlight.
