What's on my mind?

Well, I have been trying to relax the last few days and be mind numb.
After the Junk Swap and all the prep, I am pooped. But I have found a few pics I just had to share.
Love the green party!

Fun Fun way to serve Watermelon to the kids. I gotta try it!

Can you tell what these beds are made of. Yes it is pallets.

I love the first one, rugged and looks like rough and tough boys.

If they tear them up you can replace them, no prob BOB.

Oh, I am looking so forward to re-do my house and re-decorate MY house.

Now it is time to get ready for the 4th and so I will be busy the next few day. If you are not busy on Saturday, join us .....6ish.

JUNK SWAP

June 25th

Ladies,

As you know we love our “JUNK”.
So let me tell me What this swap is all about?
We all have stuff and we, as women tend to change our mind,
some of us quite often.
So we will bring our stuff and put it in a big pile ….. And then we get to go shopping for treasures from the pile!
If you bring 10 items, then you get 10 clothes pins to go shopping with.
If you bring 7 items you get 7 clothes pins, ( got it?)
This started from a blog we stalk that does this semi annually.
But we are going to have a little twist .
We are asking for a $5.00 donation from each of you to
Be given to a family that home was destroyed in the resent tornados.
This will be a fun way to shop with out spending any money, enjoy some yummy food, and send your loved - used treasures to a new happy home, while meeting new friends and helping out people who need it!!!!
The most important rules are as follows:
Up to 10 items can be brought per person. Items can be used, old or new,
You get the idea, right?
Items need to be loved but cared for.
All items will be placed together then we will shop by placing clothes pins on the items we hope to take home. If items get more than one pin, there will be a drawing….this will be exciting!
You have to be present and you have to take the unwanted items home.
If you would like to join us please let Tonya or Jerri know, so we will have enough clothes pins and Yummy food ! ! ! !

Patterned after you 2

Mother's day Brunch

The Sunday before I ask all the men or children to bring a pic of MOM. But this was the week of the tornado's. I only got a few.
We decided to have the Brunch as scheduled because many of us still did not have power. And a hot, or warm, home cooked meal would be appreciated. As it turned out the power came back on at 9 p.m on Saturday.

I sat up 6 card tables, 4- 8 footers and put candle light on each. Because we thought we were going to eat with no electricity. Thank you Mr Power man, we had hot coffee.

It turned out, everyone needed to talk and tell of the events of the last few days. They needed to get it out. So it was like therapy.

This was alot of fun and everyone enjoyed a hot home cooked meal.

Patterened After You

Mother's Day Brunch

Decorating for a party is what I love to do. I found this theme from Studio 5. And I knew right away, it was going to be created one way or the other.

Color theme- Brown, gold, black, spring green.

I just so happen had a few old patterns to make tissue balls.

They were not easy because of the different sizes in the patterns.

I took things I had and added the green, gold, brown and black embellishments. In picture #1 you can see I used pattern to make ruffles for a place mat. It all worked. Stay turn for more pictures tomorrow.

A photo from Anthropology and a fellow craft er trying to duplicate the look.

Can you tell what this is? Q Tips cut in half... Don't look too close.
Maybe instead of food coloring I would use that scrapbooking ink.

And spray it on...

Not bad. Not bad at all. Kinda like this look.

You know where there is a will, and desire, we crafters will figure it out.

Update

First- If you know me, you know I love porch beds. Had to post the new one...So inviting.

Second- Computer still not fixed. I still can't find my photos and favorites. Boo Hoo!

Third- The Alabama tornado's have been devastating. Pictures bring tears and I am trying to help as much as I can. All is welcomed. I pray and pray some more. But friend, family, neighbors and all Alabamians will be okay. We will pull together, and help each other. This is what we do. The South takes care of it's own. But prayer is needed. And if you sent a buck or two to help, if you sent a blanket or can good to a relief effort, if you bought a T-shirt printed to help. I THANK YOU! from the bottom of my heart.

I just know there are no kids, a cool breeze and a glass of wine at this outdoor bath. Enjoy your week and I hope to be back ASAP.

So I save them and you get to see them.

It is Spring and I got a itch. I am ready and dying to go junkin. I need a road trip. Hit the back roads and hunt for antique/junk shops. I love it! Now all I need is time. But with spring comes alot of events. Hubby gets really busy in spring. And every spring I get the itch. We visited Gardendale Flea Mall last weekend, but it didn't do it. I need a weekend.

We both enjoy junkin and the time alone.

We rarely find great deals but we are together and love the hunt. We enjoy just riding. I guess I can say we enjoy each other company. For a few days anyway.

So dear hubby, just a few words of advise....

When Mama aint happy, no one is happy.

Take me some where or you will have to deal with my wrath. LOL

I always try and find paper works from auction and estate sales. You could say I am nosey or I love to read what was written before. Hand written. I have letters from my relatives that has passed. I always ask for something that is written by their own hand. When my aunt Inez passed a few years ago my aunt Ann gave me a letter that their sister Emily had written to Inez in the 50's. It was a treasure since I never met Emily, she died before I was born. I treasure these letters, written by their own hands. They sat and put thought into each word. It was the only way to communicate. Phone calls were rare, letters and the written word was a way to keep family and friend close. Why did Inez keep that letter? She had it for over 50 years. Because it meant something to her, a sister that had went on before her.

A memory. So today I am sharing this autograph book I found at an estate sale a few weeks ago. I will continue to buy these items, when I can find them, because eventually they will be osculate.

Please check out my friends blog and her new piece of art.

http://blockheadarts.blogspot.com/

She designs her art with recycled paper and gameboards. She always has a story to go along with her art. This is a new piece and I saw it first hand this afternoon. It is called Mama said... The biggest piece says mama said eat your peas. I love this one cause I was the only one sitting at the table hours later, because I never ate my peas. I spit them in my milk, and they made me drink my milk...YUCK! I hid them in my pocket, in my napkin, and in my closed fist. It never worked. And I still to this day don't like peas. So she is asking for your mama stories, your mama ism. Just check out her blog and leave your comment. And check her out on facebook too. I believe I can talk her into having a comment drawing for a free piece of art. So leave her some good ones and knock her off her block.....lol

Just a few shots of my family from the womenless fashion show. Enjoy the view.
