Christmas 2012

If by some reason you are still visiting this blog, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. There is not enough time in the day for me to get done what I have floating my my little pea size brain. So something had to go, IE this blog. I am enjoying my shop, family, friends and all the crafting I can do in a 24 hour day. So Happy Crafting !

I can not believe it is July already.

And the BBQ is over and done.

We had 58 or so people and it was alot of fun.

I enjoy these events but like to talk to each person.

That is hard to do and put the food out, make sure the ice cream still has ice,

everyone is getting what they want and welcomed.

And I love to talk.

But it is all done and everything is put away

So now it is time to think about Vacation Bible School.

Wanted to add alittle color to my church bench on the porch .

So I went by the thrift store yesterday and bought a few pillows. I got most of the fabric at a yard sale last week. I have a weakness for red anything.

And this morning before work I made a few covers. I am loving the one in the back.

Pillows at the Goodwill $ 4.50

Fabric - maybe $2.00

And the best part, I won't feel guilty tossing them, after the Summer season, and they look good!

Had a little in prompt to junkin trip yesterday with Miss Donna.

Checked out the Antique Mall in Leeds.

It is better than it has been in the past.

We found all our goodies on the right side.

The left side just wasted our time.

And if you have ever been, it takes awhile to go through this mall.

Lets just say I got my walk in yesterday.



This is the last of my jars.

This jar is by my sewing machine and holds all the little

pieces of ribbon and lace.

I am sure I will use it one day.

I love my jars and the items I collect in them.

I got a few new ones the last few days.

 In my pantry, is where we see more jars today.

And in the flour is a old tea cup.

Just like my grandmother use to use.

Like most grandmothers, they didn't use a measuring cup, they just guessed.

Even on the potting bench there is a jar with sidewalk chalk, for my boys.

I didn't realize I had quite this many jars.

So, another item to collect.

Filling up jars are soooo much fun.

Some left from Kindras wedding shower and more added for Cortney's.

I really like the fact that young girls have started wearing pearl again.

At one point pearls was so Lucy and Ethel.

Never find scrabble games at the thrift store, it is because i have come in ahead of you and got them .....HAHAHA  YEEEEE Insert evil laugh....... This is just one of the jars I have!

More jars at the shop and as you may guess I sometimes have alot of time on my hands. So I go through my change drawer and pick out the dates of my grandsons birth, and what the heck mine, Terry's and Jessica's too. Note: I only have 3 penny's. LOL Is there not any 1960 change out there anymore.

In my studio I pack everything in a jar.

A jar on pearls, push pins, safety pins,  and jars full of junk.

Junky Junk, I love them...

Even on the toy wall is a selection of jars with the not so favorite game pieces.

I really don't want them to play with these without an adult, because they never, ever get put back in the jars. But I think they look good. 

Just a few jars in the china cabinet full of dice and thimbles.

Don't they look good?

I get a new jar and have to fill it up or start a new collection.

THE LOVE OF THE JARS CAME WHEN I REALIZED THERE WILL SOON NOT BE GLASS JARS.

ALMOST ALL FOOD PRODUCTS ARE NOW IN PLASTIC.

I THINK PICKLES, MIGHT BE THE ONLY ONE LEFT.

SO, ONE DAY OUR GREAT GRANDS WILL NOT KNOW WHAT A GLASS JAR IS, LIKE OUR KIDS DON'T KNOW WHAT LIFE WAS WITH OUT A REMOTE WAS LIKE.

MY PARENTS REMOTE WAS....KID GO CHANGE THAT CHANNEL.

THESE JARS ARE FILLED FOR MY 3 GRANDS, THEY WALK IN MY HOUSE HUNGRY.

SO THEY ARE JUST FOR THEM...AND HUBBY TOO!

Linda gifted me a jar full of treasures for my 50th all in red.

I still love it and empty it and look through all the treasures often.

With that said, I have copied her gift idea  a few times.

Once when Tonya moved into her new house and this jar full of JUNK for a crafty friend, that is graduating soon.

She is a crafty girl, that paid her rent one month, selling her crafts.

I love that!

She is a sweet sweet girl and I wish you all the luck and lots of inspiration.

Have I told you I enjoy baking?

I would bake all the time if I had someone that would eat it.

These are tea cake cookies.

My grandmother and Aunt Toots made these.

Sometimes I just have to bake them.

Come by the shop tomorrow, I will be passing out cookies.

Now I have one and have to try and come up with a idea.

Have you ever had creative block?

Well, for the last 2 weeks, I have been.

I am trying hard to create with no success.

What ever I make, I trash.

I hate it when I am blocked.



Do you see where I went over the weekend?

It was a trip to Tennessee to see the Amish.

Had a great time and it was a needed trip.

I had been ready these Amish books and thought I would love to live there.

But the first farm we stopped at, I stood and took it all in.

The air was cool and there was a breeze, so I could smell the hog pin or the horse poo.

So I climbed back into the car and let the idea of living among the Amish go.

But I did get Butter, bread ( still warm from the oven), homemade jam, pickled beets, and a few pot holders.

I enjoyed the day, wanna go back, next time with a truck , so I can get a few rockers.

Got new dishes at the 132 yard sale. New in the box, and they matched my poppy plates I bought last fall. It is meant to be. But as I put them in the cabinet, I realized they are to big for the door to close. Who makes dishes that are too big for standard cabinets. Walmart thats who.

Been working in the yard alot. Trying to clean up!

The little pond will be next.

Got a new pump, so I can hear the trickling of water.

I thought when DD and family moved, I would start in re-decorating ASAP. But

as reality sets in I am slower.

I have started in my front room.

I liked Dee's pics of her house and the play room. This is my take on that  idea.

Still in progress.

I am still buying for the bathroom redo and waiting for hubby to do what he needs to do.

I have started painting my grandmothers china cabinet.  Only time will tell.

I am getting in the mood, now to get Hubby in the mood.

Found this on Pinterest and showed the hubby.

I ask him, if I got all the supplies, will he built it.

His answer, why do we need it?

Cause it looks cool, I want a chicken coop to, just not the chicken poop.

Oh, I might put a few plants in this little gem.

I just think it is so darn cute.

Daddy is having his parents, my grandparents house tore down.

Daddy helped build this house when he was a child.

Terry and I lived there while we were building our house.

I loved this house.

I loved that it was part of my history.

I go there every weekend and bring home things.

Wood and cabinet doors the first day,

a piece of flooring, with big flowers on it,

and bricks from the fireplace.

A piece of history, soon to be gone.

My closest friends know I have been on a diet most of my life.

I have tried it all.

And 2 years ago I had lap band.

I lost 45 lbs and since Christmas I have gained.

I must lose at least 10 before I go back and have a fill in my band.

So 3 weeks ago I started yet another diet.

No processed food diet.

I have pooted raw vegetables for weeks now.

But I do feel better.

So once again I am fighting this up hill battle of trying to make diet food taste good.

Oh and the sad thing is, I have just lost 2 lbs. in 3 weeks.

Okay, I am sorry about the sideways pic, but I tried to flip it.

I got a new friend today.

I got a booger light.

Power company came and put up a new light.

We have put this off for 19 years.

But with this day and time and the thugs in the world, I needed light.

Started my Spring Cleaning today.

Oh, my I can not believe how old I feel tonight.

For the last two days, I have worked in the yard.

So I think there is things that is hurting on me that has never.

Today with cleaning and decorating, I have realized working at the shop

has made me soft.

So I am taking a asprin and going to bed.

We do have fun when we are together.

No worries, just fun!

I have had a spark of creativity, and with Barbara B idea, I made

a Dry Creek Friend album.

There are sweet people that comes by every once in awhile just to check on me.

These are the friends I want in this book.

I enjoy our talks and can truly call them a friend.

 I think I like this shelf unit.

Oh, if I had the space and the crates, I know I could fill it up!

I have 3 of these shelf's that are on my wall and hold all the sea shells , shell jewelry, "7" cause we have that many people in our family,  ect and I always have to spell out my name cause it is never spelled right.
I love these little shelf's and filling them up. The  Art with 50 on it , was a gift from Marion, on my 50th. I love it! I now own a piece of Blockhead Art! And I can say, I new her when!

CeCe and I hosted Bunco last week and I decorated. All vintage and so much fun.

Dinner was served in pie plates and drinks in mason jars.

The sour cream type packages are candy kisses.

I filled the jars with extra dice to hold up the candles.

I didn't take but a few pictures but it was all pretty and a enjoyed night with a good group of women.

Last Weekend we took this group of teens to Gatlingurg for a reward.



They had a great time and was a good bunch of kids.

We all had a great time.

It might have been a different story if they had no electronics.

I had a little creative spirit this week

I saw this in a magazine and had to put the Jerri spin on it.

No one was seeing these wonderful, huge frames, so I had to hang something in it so they would.

As I yard sale or auction, or thrift store junk.

I sometimes run across things that make it onto my shelf.

This items mean something to me, spark a memory or are just too darn cute..

I enjoyed Toy Store and Bobby, with my boys.

The little tin cup, reminds me of my childhood.

There is some tiny tins, tiny flower frog, bottles and a red metal Teddy bear.
